Highlights from the SOLVE Workshop on solid state battery manufacturing in Bordeaux!
29 September 2026- Cell and battery manufacturing
As the SOLVE project reaches its midpoint, key partners recently gathered at Saft’s facilities in Bordeaux for a hands-on technical workshop focused on bridging lab-scale innovation and industrial manufacturing of Li metal solid state cells.
Organized and hosted by Saft with participation of CIDETEC Energy Storage and Arkema, the workshop was a great opportunity to align priorities, review progress, and tackle the real-world engineering challenges of solid-state battery production.
💡Key Takeaways & Highlights:
· From Lab to Line: Partners visited Saft’s state-of-the-art dry-room facilities and solid-state pouch-cell assembly line, gaining crucial insights into the industrial constraints required for automated production.
· Integrating Advanced Cell Components: Discussions focused on the processing of cell components under realistic manufacturing conditions, including Li metal anodes, solid-state cathodes, and hybrid solid polymer electrolytes.
· Scaling Up to 20 Ah: Aligning research efforts to smoothly transition Gen4b solid-state pouch cells towards automated 20 Ah production.
Reaching TRL6 and laying a solid foundation for mass production of solid state batteries in Europe requires strong cross-value-chain collaboration. A huge thank you to Saft for hosting, and to all SOLVE partners for their continued commitment and teamwork as we enter this exciting next phase!
